Distances, roads and transport

1. How far are the rooms from the beach?
Distances vary and depend upon accommodation chosen. Self-catering accommodation apartments (located on flat ground) 100-250 meters; self-catering accommodation 3-room B and 2-room B (located on the hillside) 400-800 meters. Hotel Classic and D-Lux rooms and Junior Suites 200-300 meters; Hotel Family Rooms 300-500 meters.

2. The Resort is huge, is there a mini-bus service?
Of course. A mini-bus service is available to guests at established times, (morning, lunchtime and afternoon), and circulates the complex continuously, taking guests to and from the beach.

3. How far is the Resort from Vieste?
The Resort is about 5 km form Vieste. The town is easily reached by car or taxi.

4. Do any public roads or footpaths go through the Resort?
Absolutely not. The Resort is entirely private and completely enclosed. There are roads within the complex but they are for the sole use of Resort staff and guests.

5. Is it possible to use cars within the Resort?
Yes. Because the resort is so extensive it is possible to drive around in your own car in order to get to the various facilities within the complex, respecting, of course, the limits imposed by the management.


Hotel, self-catering and accommodation options

6. What is the difference between Self-catering and Hotel?
The difference between self-catering and hotel is the mealplan options: in the self-catering accommodation there are kitchen facilities where guests can prepare their own meals, whereas with the hotel option, there is a variety of mealplans to choose from, including all-inclusive (breakfast, lunch, dinner, water, cola and orangeade with meals). All Resort facilities (beach, swimming pool, golf course, amphitheatre, etc) are available with both options.

7. What is the difference between a 3-room A and an apartment?
The apartments, located on flat ground, have air-conditioning and a small lawn, while 3-room A accommodation are independent units and have furnished covered raised terraces. Both options may sleep up to 5 guests.

8. Room option “A” or “B”?
The letters “A” and “B” identify the type of accommodation according to location and distance from the sea. Letter A accommodation is located on flat ground and lower hillside (about 200 to 400 meters from the sea), while letter B accommodation is located on the hillside (about 400 to 800 meters from the sea).

Does all accommodation have air-conditioning?
No. Hotel Family rooms have fans. Only self-catering accommodation Apartments and 2-room A  have air-conditioning, all other accommodation is located in shady areas.

9. Is the hotel arranged on more than one level?
No. Gattarella Resort is not a classic hotel built on several storeys. Hotel accommodation is arranged in a series of terraced buildings close to the panoramic “Belvedere” restaurant. The hotel option offers a choice of four types of room (Classic, Junior Suite, Family and the brand new D-lux), all with adjacent parking space.

10. Is the beach within the Resort?
Yes of course. The beach is close to the entrance to the Resort.

11. How does parasol allocation work?
Parasols are allocated on arrival and guests keep the same one throughout their stay. On payment of a supplement it is possible to have a front row parasol (otherwise allocations are on a first come first served basis).

12. Is there a mini-market within the Resort?
Yes there is a mini-market in the shopping center in the Resort that not only sells the usual necessities but also a selection of traditional local products. In the shopping center guests will also find a bazaar, newsagent, hairdresser and boutique.

13. What is the beach sand like and how deep is the water?
The gently sloping beach has sand that is fine and golden and the sea is shallow, ideal for families holidaying with small children.

14. What does “Executive Services” mean?
Executive Services are a supplement to the junior suites D-Lux rooms. In addition to air-conditioning, LCD TV, exclusive direct telephone line, mini-bar, evening room service, front row parasol in privileged position, beach towels and daily newspaper, Executive Services guarantees priority Check-in.

15. What is included in all-inclusive?
All-inclusive includes drinks such as water, cola and orangeade at mealtimes (lunch and dinner).


16. Can the multi-functional courts also be used in the evening?
No, the multi-functional courts can only be used during the daytime.

17. How does the mini-club work?
The mini-club is for children between the ages of 4 and 9 and gives kids the chance to take part in all the fun and games organised by our entertainments staff: beach games, walks, days in the pool, fun in the playground and evening shows organised especially for the mini-club, and all under constant close supervision.

18. Can I request a kinder packet even if I book Self-catering?
Yes of course. The kinder packet must requested at time of booking. For guests in self-catering accommodation the highchair will only be available if on a mealplan.

19. In case of bad weather, are there alternative activities for kids?
Yes of course. In case of bad weather children’s activities will be transferred to indoor spaces such as the games room or the play room, again always under responsible supervision.

Is there a children’s pool?
Yes. New for 2012 is a cm 60 cm deep children’s pool.

20. How do discounts work?
Our policy on discounts is notable for it’s flexibility. Obviously, the earlier the booking, the greater the discount. In order to be able to take advantage of our best discounts and/or to be kept up to date with our news and special offers, subscription to our newsletter is recommended.

21. Do you cater for coeliac disease sufferers?
In view of the fact that each sufferer has his/her individual tolerances and preferences we do not have a specific menu for coeliac disease sufferers. However by consulting with the Maitre d’ and the Chef, it may be possible for the kitchen to prepare meals with ingredients brought from home.

22. In which restaurant are mealplan meals to be taken?
Mealplan meals will be served at table in the “Belvedere” restaurant.

23. If on a mealplan is it compulsory to take the meals every day or is it possible to choose when to take the meals?
Meal coupons for meals served at table are weekly and it is compulsory to take them daily. Meals not taken are not refundable.

24. Is the restaurant service or buffet?
For hotel guests breakfasts will be buffet, lunches and dinners will be served at table. For self-catering guests on a mealplan, lunches and dinners will be served at table.

Is the Resort disabled friendly?
No. Due to the lay of the land and consequent architectural characteristics the Resort is not suitable for disabled guests.

25. Do mealplans include breakfast?
No. For guests in self-catering with mealplan, breakfasts are not included. However breakfasts can be taken at a charge of Euro 7,00 per person payable locally depending on availability.

26. What are the terms of the cancellation policy?
Cancellation penalties are payable as follows: up to 12 days before due date of arrival -10% of the cost of the whole booking; 11 days or less - 30 % of the cost whole of the booking; for stays subject to special offers - no refund will be payable.

27. Is it possible to pay by credit card?
Yes. We accept the following credit cards: Amex, Visa, Mastercard and Diners Club. We also accept debit cards, cash and cheques.
